Recipes that nourish
If you're going to maintain a healthy lifestyle and stay within a reasonable budget, the best way to do that is to cook at home. Most people don't like to cook because it takes time, patience, and skill. Here you can learn to make good heathy food that doesn't just "feed" your body, but nurishes it! I'll also help you learn how to save time and money in the meantime.

Brenda's Chocolate Chip Cookies
We all need to indulge from time to time. This is a healthy, yet totally addictive chocolate chip cookie recipe that I came up with years ago. It totally doesn't taste like your typical "healthy" cookie recipe. I think people thinnk that "healthy" means bland and tasteless. These cookies are anything but bland and tasteless.

Black Bean and Corn Salsa
I love salsa! It's so versitle. You can add it to scrambled eggs and make a delishious breakfast burrito. Throw it on some lettuce for a southwestern salad. Top off a burger for a little extra flavor, or just eat it with some multi grain chips. This salsa recipe seems like it makes a lot, but trust me when I say, it goes fast!

Seasoned Potato Wedges
Potato wedges are so fast and easy, not to mention delishious. If you're cooking chicken or fish right out of the freezer, you can put these in right along side and it'll all finish around the same time. I don't know about you, but I love when I can just season everything up, throw it in the oven and just set the timer.

Substitutes for Low Calorie Cooking
Keep in mind, I'm not a fan of substituting chemicals in place of sugars and fats. If you're body can't break it down naturally, then it shouldn't be consumed. However, there are a few things you can do to reduce the caloric intake of some foods using natural, REAL food.

Healthy Dark Chocolate Waffles
These waffles are not just delishious, they're surprisingly healthy too. I make up a bunch of them and freeze the leftovers. They have no added sugar other than the dark chocolate chips and the all natural syrup we use on top. You can also substitute the chocolate chips for blueberries for an even healthier version.

13 Bean
Chili
Chili is one of the most versitile foods you can make. This recipe makes a lot, but you can expect that it'll get eaten faster than anything else you make. When I make a pot of chili, we use the leftovers for chili omlets, chili dogs, chili cheese dip and quesadillas, I even add it to my grilled cheese sandwiches. The possibilities are endless.
Note: this recipe requires a large crockpot. If you don't have a 6 qt. crockpot, be sure to split the recipe in half.
